Il teatro dell'Opera di Oslo sorge sull'area del porto, con un tetto bianco inclinato che sembra emergere dal mare. Grandi finestre a livello della strada permettono al pubblico di assistere a scorci di prove e attività di laboratorio artistico. Il materiale utilizzato per gli interni dell'edificio è sopratutto la quercia, e la sala principale è a forma di ferro di cavallo, che ricorda i teatri classici del passato. Il teatro è stato progettato dallo studio di architetti norvegese Snøhetta, e ha ricevuto diversi premi prestigiosi. L'Opera offre un programma ricco e vario in tre sale: La sala principale (1369 posti), la seconda sala (400 posti) e lo Studio (200 posti).
