La cascata “Le Sette Sorelle” è una delle più conosciute e fotografate della Norvegia, e si getta nel Geirangerfjord, fiordo Patrimonio UNESCO.

Per un incontro ravvicinato con queste sorelle, sali a bordo di un traghetto, un battello da crociera – o meglio ancora un kayak!

In alcuni posti puoi fare un’escursione a piedi sulle cime circostanti per ammirare i panorami più grandiosi.

La cascata Langfoss è una vista indimenticabile, con le acque che si tuffano dalla montagna per 600 metri nell’Åkrafjord, nella Norvegia dei fiordi.

In inverno alcune cascate ghiacciano, trasformandosi in gigantesche pareti ideali per l’arrampicata su ghiaccio. Ma è consigliato solo agli scalatori esperti e con una guida.

Se però hai voglia di provare, puoi fare una sessione guidata di arrampicata nell’arena sciistica al coperto SNØ, a Oslo.

Le cascate della Norvegia

Molte cascate sono salti spettacolari in cui l’acqua si getta da alte pareti rocciose nel fiordo sottostante, mentre altre interrompono il corso dei fiumi: tutte comunque si integrano perfettamente nella grande varietà del paesaggio norvegese.

Le cascate più alte della Norvegia superano gli 800 metri e per altezza complessiva, secondo il World Waterfall Database, la più alta è Vinnufallet. Si trova a Sunndalen, nel Nordovest dei fiordi, una regione con molte stupende cascate, tra cui Åmotan e Mardalsfossen.

Altre cascate molto famose sono Vøringsfossen nella valle di Måbødalen e Le Sette Sorelle (“De syv søstre”) a Geiranger – così chiamate perché la loro forma ricorda i capelli di sette donne. L’imponente Kjosfossen è una delle tante notevoli attrazioni lungo la Ferrovia di Flåm: qui, durante la stagione turistica in estate, delle attrici impersonano le creature mitologiche Huldra e danzano e cantano vicino alla cascata.

Per i norvegesi le cascate rappresentano molto più che un bel soggetto da fotografare. Tante delle cascate nel nostro paese vengono utilizzate per la produzione idroelettrica e forniscono energia pulita e rinnovabile alle industrie locali e alle abitazioni.
