Pianifica una vacanza in bici in Norvegia

E prepara i bagagli da professionista
Cosa mi serve portare per un viaggio in bici e come faccio a pianificare la vacanza perfetta su due ruote? L’esperto ciclista Øyvind Wold condivide i suoi consigli.

Parti per un’avventura ed entra a stretto contatto con la natura norvegese. I fiordi. Le montagne. Le graziose cittadine costiere. Chilometri su chilometri di strade sterrate attraverso una natura praticamente intatta ti aspettano, specialmente nella Norvegia orientale.

In ogni caso, sia che tu scelga di viaggiare su alcune delle strade più belle della Norvegia o di seguire un itinerario ciclabile panoramico, è necessario pianificare il viaggio. In dettaglio. E se c’è qualcuno che sa come farlo è proprio Øyvind Wold. Lavora per l’Associazione Ciclistica Norvegese e ha girato tutto il paese in bicicletta. Inoltre ha scritto diversi libri sul ciclismo in Norvegia.

Ecco i suoi consigli e suggerimenti su come pianificare la tua vacanza in bicicletta e cosa portare.

Divertimento per tutti

Dal ciclismo su strada attraverso vallate rigogliose e strade serpeggianti lungo i fiordi ai percorsi in mountain bike – la Norvegia è un eldorado per gli appassionati della bicicletta. E non devi essere in forma come gli atleti del Tour de France per poterla provare.

“No, per niente! Tante delle strade ciclabili nazionali in Norvegia sono adatte a tutti, incluso chi non ha molta esperienza con la bicicletta. La ciclabile di Numedal e la ciclabile costiera tra Horten e Tønsberg ne sono un esempio”, spiega Øyvind.

Anche gli itinerari ciclabili più famosi sono destinati a tutti.

“Se cerchi un viaggio facile percorri in bici la famosa Rallarvegen ‘al contrario’. Prendi il treno per Finse e segui la strada in direzione est fino a Haugastøl. Sono circa 30 chilometri su terreno prevalentemente piano e dolci colline.”

Tante destinazioni popolari per il ciclismo in Norvegia offrono il noleggio bici e anche e-bike, che rendono i tour panoramici più accessibili. Ricorda solo di prenotare in anticipo.

Trova il punto di partenza perfetto

“Se non hai molta esperienza e non ti senti sicuro sulle distanze e su quanto equipaggiamento ti serve, è consigliabile scegliere una base e pianificare da lì i tuoi giri in bici. Il punto di partenza può essere un hotel o uno chalet.”

Øyvind sostiene che è una soluzione intelligente perché così non avrai bisogno di molte cose per ogni escursione. È anche un modo eccellente per viaggiare in gruppo.

“Quando hai un punto base il gruppo può dividersi. Alcuni possono fare un giro lungo, mentre altri possono scegliere un percorso più facile. E poi tutti si possono ritrovare a fine giornata.”

Se vuoi trascorrere una o due notti in mezzo alla natura puoi comunque farlo, portandoti una tenda o un’amaca. Vai in bici fino a un posto per campeggiare e passi lì una notte, poi torni alla base il giorno successivo.

Avventure per famiglie

Le vacanze in bicicletta con i bambini possono essere fantastiche. E con un po’ di pianificazione si divertiranno tutti quanti.

“Scegli una zona che conosci. In questo modo saprai dove trovare le strade più suggestive, le spiagge più belle e i punti migliori per campeggiare”, dice Øyvind.

Renderà anche più semplice trovare dei posti per motivare i bambini, come una fattoria, un lago per pescare o un locale che propone cibi deliziosi. Tantissime avventure per famiglie in mezzo alla natura possono vivacizzare il viaggio, come fare canoa, escursioni su un ghiacciaio, arrampicata su una via ferrata e molto altro.

Ricordati anche di coinvolgere i più piccoli nell’organizzazione.

“Se racconti loro del viaggio prima di partire, si sentono partecipi e sanno cosa aspettarsi.”

E ultimo ma non meno importante, devi avere un piano B. Anche se i più grandi dovrebbero avere qualche conoscenza di base di riparazione della bici, è meglio essere preparati se qualcosa non si può aggiustare. O se ci fosse brutto tempo.

Un’altra soluzione sono le micro-avventure.

“È facile farsi abbagliare da tutte le mete più straordinarie, ma può essere altrettanto eccitante andare in bici a un vicino laghetto o nella foresta.”

In bicicletta per più giorni

In Norvegia i viaggi lunghi in bicicletta possono offrirti di tutto, dai paesaggi spettacolari della Norvegia settentrionale e della Norvegia dei fiordi ai famosi itinerari in montagna come il Tour de Dovre e la Mjølkevegen. Ma dove potresti andare e quanto puoi percorrere in bici ogni giorno?

La cosa più importante quando pianifichi un viaggio lungo è conoscere te stesso e la tua bicicletta. In questo modo sarai sicuro di avere l’equipaggiamento necessario ed è più facile calcolare la lunghezza di ogni tappa.”

È buona cosa anche considerare bene l’itinerario e il dislivello lungo il percorso, dato che questo influirà sia sulla velocità sia sulla distanza, il che è cruciale quando decidi quanto percorrere in bici in un giorno.

Øyvind spiega che se fai esercizio regolarmente ma non sei abituato ad andare in bici, non dovresti puntare a più di 30–45 chilometri al giorno. Persone molto in forma possono coprire una distanza di circa 70–90 chilometri al giorno.

“Ma tieni presente che è soltanto una stima. La distanza che sei in grado di percorrere in un giorno dipende anche da terreno, numero dei rilievi (e da quanto sono ripidi), vento e se hai molto bagaglio.”

Google Maps può essere utile per la pianificazione del viaggio, dato che indica itinerari consigliati, distanza, altitudine e approssimativamente quanto ci si impiega per il percorso.

Sicurezza in bicicletta

Quando percorri le strade norvegesi in bicicletta devi rispettare le stesse regole e segnali stradali che valgono per le auto e gli altri veicoli:

• Tieni la destra.
• Da’ la precedenza a chi arriva dalla tua destra.
• Non bere alcolici quando vai in bici.

Puoi andare in bicicletta sui marciapiedi, ma riduci la velocità.

Non puoi andare in bicicletta su autostrade e strade a doppia carreggiata.

Solo i bambini di età inferiore ai 10 anni possono essere trasportati come passeggeri.

Indossa sempre il casco quando vai in bicicletta. È meglio indossare un giubbotto ad alta visibilità, soprattutto sulle strade trafficate.

I consigli di Øyvind per le tappe giornaliere

Persone che fanno regolarmente esercizio ma non sono abituate ad andare in bici: 30–45 km.

Persone in forma e che vogliono mettersi alla prova: 70–90 km.

Bambini di 7-9 anni: 15–20 km.

Bambini di 10-12 anni: 20–30 km.

Tieni presente che è soltanto una stima. La distanza che sei in grado di percorrere in un giorno varia in base al tipo di strada, pendenza, vento e peso del bagaglio.

Come fare i bagagli da professionista per un viaggio in bici

Oltre agli oggetti più ovvi, come prodotti per l’igiene personale e gli attrezzi necessari per la bici, ci sono alcune altre cose che dovresti sempre portare con te per un viaggio in bicicletta, secondo Øyvind.

“Se partiamo da un viaggio con la famiglia, la priorità numero uno è portare cibo e bevande a sufficienza. È buona cosa anche avere abbigliamento antipioggia di qualità, perché bagnarsi e avere freddo rovina di certo l’esperienza.”

Altre cose da portare per un viaggio in bici sono:

  • una cartina vecchio stile (non si scarica la batteria)
  • protezione solare
  • cerotti, cerotti gel per le vesciche, antizanzare
  • power bank
  • carta igienica
  • caffè (naturalmente)
  • casco
  • guanti da ciclismo (proteggono i palmi se cadi dalla bici)
  • occhiali da ciclismo (proteggono gli occhi da polvere, vento, insetti e in parte dalla pioggia)
  • abbigliamento leggero in lana (può essere usato per più di un giorno prima che inizi a puzzare)
  • abbigliamento sportivo leggero
  • abbigliamento antipioggia
  • tenda compatta e leggera e tappetino da campeggio
  • cuscino gonfiabile

Attrezzature per le necessarie riparazioni della bici sono d’obbligo per i viaggi lunghi, come anche un kit per riparare le gomme e una camera d’aria di riserva. Ma non è tutto.

“Porta un cuscino gonfiabile. Può fare miracoli per la qualità del tuo sonno, che è molto importante in questo tipo di viaggi.”

La lista di cose da portare per il tuo viaggio in bici include parecchie voci, quindi come puoi portarti tutto senza un’auto?

“Puoi utilizzare borse laterali per trasportare il bagaglio sulla bicicletta, insieme a un carrello per bici. Dovresti evitare di mettere tutto in una borsa posteriore.”

Ma la stessa soluzione non è adatta a tutti. Quando prepari il bagaglio per un viaggio lungo in bicicletta raramente ti viene bene alla prima volta, afferma Øyvind. “Devi provare e sbagliare. In questo modo capirai cosa funzionava meglio e cosa non dovevi portare – e imparerai qualcosa per il viaggio successivo. Fa parte del divertimento quando vai ‘all’avventura’!”

Tempo e clima

Quando pianifichi una vacanza in bicicletta in Norvegia è importante sapere che il clima e le temperature variano molto nelle diverse parti del paese.

Nella Norvegia meridionale, Norvegia orientale e Norvegia dei fiordi la primavera arriva di solito in aprile o a inizio maggio e la stagione adatta per viaggiare in bicicletta si estende fino a ottobre. Le temperature vanno da molto caldo (25-30 gradi) a piuttosto fresco (10-15 gradi).

Oltre il Circolo polare artico, nella Norvegia settentrionale, potresti non avere una vera primavera fino a fine maggio o inizio giugno, ma in quel periodo saranno già iniziate le lunghe e chiare notti estive. Qui puoi andare in bicicletta sotto il sole di mezzanotte fino alla fine di luglio e la stagione adatta alla bici finisce a settembre/ottobre.

Ricorda che sia la Norvegia settentrionale sia le regioni montuose sono più fredde che il resto del paese. Accertati di portare con te abbigliamento sufficiente.

Un’altra cosa quando viaggi in bicicletta in Norvegia è che devi essere preparato a giornate piovose.

Biciclette sui trasporti pubblici

È possibile portare la bici sui mezzi di trasporto pubblico in Norvegia come treni, traghetti e simili. Devi pagare una tariffa, di solito quella di un biglietto ridotto per bambini.

Evita le ore di punta perché potresti dover aspettare una partenza successiva se, ad esempio, il treno è affollato e non c’è spazio per la tua bici.

Puoi trasportare la bici come bagaglio speciale sui voli, ma non sono comprese le e-bike.
