Allora cosa aspetti?

Lofoten ha ottenuto la certificazione di Sustainable Destination. Anche se questo non significa che la destinazione sia completamente sostenibile, indica che si è impegnata a lavorare sistematicamente per ridurre l’impatto negativo del turismo e rafforzarne gli aspetti positivi.

Com’è il clima?

L’inverno nell’Artico può iniziare già in ottobre e durare fino quasi a fine aprile.

Dato che le isole Lofoten si trovano al largo, lambite dalla calda Corrente del Golfo, il loro clima è costiero e molto più mite rispetto ad altri luoghi artici alla stessa latitudine. La temperatura si aggira spesso tra i -5°C e i 3°C.

Da ottobre a dicembre piove e nevica spesso. Le montagne sono di solito innevate, mentre le zone più basse sono spesso libere dalla neve. L’inverno è anche la stagione migliore per stupendi arcobaleni!

Il ‘vero’ inverno comincia di solito a gennaio e va fino a metà marzo. Durante questi mesi puoi aspettarti solitamente di vedere più neve ovunque, anche nelle zone più basse sulla costa. Da febbraio ad aprile la quantità di luce diurna aumenta ogni giorno di più e le temperature nelle giornate calme e soleggiate possono essere molto gradevoli!

Dato che l’arcipelago si trova nell’oceano, al largo della costa, si verificano piuttosto di frequente tempeste che possono causare interruzioni nei trasporti. Accertati di avere tempo a sufficienza nel caso di ritardi e acquista una buona assicurazione di viaggio.

Quanto fa buio?

Le giornate cominciano ad accorciarsi già da ottobre ma le Lofoten hanno un periodo di mørketid, la cosiddetta notte polare, di solo 5-6 settimane, da inizio dicembre fino a inizio gennaio.

Non è però completamente buio per tutto il giorno. Avrai comunque diverse ore di luce, specialmente nelle giornate limpide. Il sole non scompare mai completamente: scende appena sotto l’orizzonte e poi vi aleggia sopra, illuminando spesso le nuvole dal basso e creando i colori più incredibili che tu abbia mai visto. Ammira ogni giorno la famosa “ora blu”, poco prima del tramonto e dell’alba.

Anche se ci sono poche ore di luce da metà novembre a fine gennaio, è in ogni caso un periodo molto bello e tranquillo per un viaggio, con ottime opportunità di vedere l’aurora boreale!

A febbraio le giornate si allungano e inizia il periodo dello sci escursionismo e la stagione della pesca delle Lofoten. Da inizio aprile il cielo torna a essere troppo luminoso per riuscire a vedere l’aurora boreale.

Arrivare e muoversi

In aereo
Ci sono voli frequenti e regolari verso gli aeroporti di Bodø, Harstad/Narvik (Evenes), Svolvær, Leknes e Røst.
La durata del volo da Oslo a Bodø è di un’ora e mezza, più altri 20–30 minuti di volo da lì alle Lofoten, oppure circa 3–4 ore in battello o traghetto. Dall’aeroporto di Harstad/Narvik (Evenes) ci vogliono 2,5-4 ore di viaggio in auto o in pullman per le Lofoten.
C'è anche un servizio di elicotteri tra Bodø e Værøy.

Muoversi sul posto
La E10 (strada di Re Olav V) è la maggiore arteria che collega l'arcipelago delle Lofoten da est a ovest. Se decidi di usare il trasporto pubblico devi pianificare per bene il tuo tragitto, specialmente se lasci la E10, per cui controlla bene gli orari.
In nave
Ci sono battelli espressi giornalieri per il trasporto passeggeri che operano tutto l'anno tra Bodø, Svolvær e Værøy.
Da Bodø ci sono traghetti con trasporto auto verso diverse destinazioni delle Lofoten e tra alcune delle isole dell’arcipelago.
Hurtigruten, il postale dei fiordi, fa scalo tutti i giorni a Stamsund e Svolvær alle Lofoten. Le navi di Havila Voyages passano dalle Lofoten durante il viaggio sia verso nord sia verso sud, con sosta a Stamsund e Svolvær.

In autobus
Ci sono pullman pubblici tutti i giorni da Narvik, Bodø e Harstad per Svolvær. Anche il pullman Airport Express ha partenze regolari dall’aeroporto di Harstad/Narvik (Evenes) per Lofoten-Svolvær.

In auto
Se scegli di viaggiare in auto ci sono diverse possibilità per raggiungere le Lofoten.
Arrivando da nord c’è un collegamento via strada, senza bisogno di prendere traghetti, tra la terraferma e le isole Lofoten.

In treno
Ci sono treni giornalieri tutto l’anno per Narvik provenienti da Kiruna e Stoccolma in Svezia. Da Narvik puoi proseguire in pullman per le isole Lofoten.
Puoi anche prendere il treno da Oslo a Trondheim e proseguire sempre in treno da Trondheim a Bodø con la Ferrovia del Nordland (quest’ultima tratta dura circa 10 ore). Da Bodø puoi prendere un battello espresso o un traghetto per le Lofoten.
