La regione di Salten si estende dallo Helgeland a sud fino a Ofoten a nord. Bodø, situata al centro di Salten, è la maggiore città del distretto. Pianifica un city break a Bodø prima di andare in esplorazione degli altri tesori della costa di Salten, molti dei quali facilmente raggiungibili dal centro città.

Puoi girare la zona in auto, ma le navi veloci (molte con partenza da Bodø) sono un modo fantastico per scoprire le belle località costiere.

La principale città di Salten è Bodø, la mini metropoli della Norvegia settentrionale, che è stata Capitale Europea della Cultura nel 2024.

Bodø è sia il maggiore centro urbano di Salten sia il naturale punto di partenza per esplorare il resto della regione.

Non mancare di visitare attrazioni come Kulturkvartalet Stormen, un polo culturale con biblioteca e sala da concerti, e di gustare i dolci divini della pasticceria Craig Alibone.

L’idilliaco emporio di Kjerringøy e Saltstraumen, il gorgo marino più potente al mondo, sono facili da raggiungere e mete perfette per gite in giornata da Bodø.

All’estremo nord di Salten, a Tranøy, puoi concederti l’esperienza di dormire in un faro.

Dal faro di Tranøy hai una vista incredibile sul Vestfjord e sulle montagne frastagliate delle isole Lofoten. Il rumore del frangersi delle onde sarà l’unica ninna nanna di cui avrai bisogno!

A circa 20 minuti verso sudest si trova Hamarøy, dove visse per molti anni lo scrittore Knut Hamsun, vincitore del Premio Nobel per la letteratura nel 1920. Molti dei suoi romanzi, tra cui Pan, Vagabondi e Il risveglio della terra, sono stati ispirati dai paesaggi della regione.

Un’escursione nei parchi nazionali di Salten ti garantirà una piacevole pausa dalla frenesia digitale della vita quotidiana.

Rago nel Sørfold (nella foto) offre una natura aspra e selvaggia, mentre Láhko e Junkerdal sono la scelta migliore se vuoi andare a pesca in laghi e fiumi. Sjunkhatten ha numerosi sentieri escursionistici e posti attrezzati per il barbecue ed è ideale per famiglie con bambini.

Se stai facendo un road trip nella regione fermati in una delle toilette pubbliche più belle al mondo. Sul serio!

Tanti arrivano a Salten in auto e tutta la zona è attraversata dall’ultimo tratto della Strada turistica nazionale Kystriksveien. Ureddplassen a Gildeskål è un punto ideale se hai bisogno di una sosta bagno, ma anche se vuoi scattare delle foto con un magnifico panorama.

Se provieni da sud lungo la strada E6 passando per i monti Saltfjellet, in direzione di Fauskeo del paradiso sciistico di Sulitjelma, avrai modo di attraversare il Circolo polare artico. E potresti magari vedere l’aurora boreale!

Un altro suggerimento è di fare sosta al Centro del Parco Nazionale del Nordland a Saltdal. È anche il punto di partenza per visitare la straordinaria riserva naturale di Junkerdalsura.

Tenta la fortuna con la pesca nel fiume Saltdalselva. Se ti interessa la pesca fluviale devi assolutamente provare il Beiarelva: situato a Beiarn, a ovest di Saltdal, è uno dei migliori fiumi da salmone della Norvegia (è necessaria la licenza).

Se ti attira di più la pesca in mare hai mille possibilità di praticarla lungo la costa di Salten. Vieni in inverno e potresti prendere all’amo uno skrei, il merluzzo artico migratore!
