Grazie alla calda Corrente del Golfo le Lofoten hanno un clima molto più mite rispetto ad altre parti del mondo alla stessa latitudine. Tra fine maggio e metà luglio puoi sperimentare il sole di mezzanotte, mentre l’aurora boreale si può vedere da settembre a metà aprile.
La pesca è stata, ed è tuttora, il motivo per cui la gente ha vissuto qui, quindi questa regione è famosa per i suoi numerosi piccoli villaggi di pescatori. Soggiorna in una rorbu - una vecchia casetta di pescatori - e assaggia lo skrei, il merluzzo artico, e lo stoccafisso, il merluzzo essiccato.

SvolværHike to Fløya and Djevelporten (590 m)
Fløya is a mountain, towering over Svolvær in Lofoten with the famous and characteristic Svolværgeita in front. On the hike up to this mountain you will pass Djevelporten («The Devil’s Gate”), which is a large rock stuck in a gorge. There are also Sherpa stairs, called Djeveltrappa («The Devil’s Stairs») - an attraction in itself.

In treno
Ci sono treni giornalieri tutto l’anno per Narvik provenienti da Kiruna e Stoccolma in Svezia. Da Narvik puoi proseguire in pullman per le isole Lofoten.
Puoi anche prendere il treno da Oslo a Trondheim e proseguire sempre in treno da Trondheim a Bodø con la Ferrovia del Nordland (quest’ultima tratta dura circa 10 ore). Da Bodø puoi prendere un battello espresso o un traghetto per le Lofoten.
