Whale watching with large traditional boat - Whalesafari Andenes
Experience the wonderful whales off the island Andøya in Vesterålen, with Hvalsafari AS.
About our whale watching tour
Our whale watching tours normally last between 2 and 4 hours thanks to the short distance from the harbor to the whale field. The guides are mostly biologists or students in the subject and take good care of our guests on board.
While at sea, you can rely on our crew’s knowledge and experience in searching for the whales. Our boats are fully equipped and adapted as whale-watching vessels. Our guides speak several languages and during the trip they will give you a good insight into the whales that we see. The largest mammals to be seen off Andøya is the Sperm whale. In addition, we can see whales such as the orcas, fin whales, pilot whales and more.
If no whales are observed during our trip, you can get a new free ticket on the next available departure.
ATTENTION: Whale watching trips are weather-dependent (they can be cancelled in case of strong wind/high waves at sea or thick fog). We therefore recommend setting aside a couple of days in the area, if possible.
Whale center
In the summer of 2024, we introduce a completely new whale exhibition. With four themes divided between four rooms, you can learn about whale biology, marine ecology and our ongoing research on these amazing animals. Hvalsafari AS has contributed to whale research since the beginning in 1989.
You can experience the exhibition on your own or book a guided tour. In addition to the exhibition, the Whale Center has a shop with exclusive souvenirs and a café.
Duration: 2-4 hours (normally)
Point of departure: Andenes.
Recommended equipment: warm clothing, sturdy shoes, camera, (binoculars)
