Espen Skjerven visits the library to present his latest novel, published in autumn 2025. The book explores important themes of identity, belonging and being different.
Excerpt from the novel:
"The novel follows Oscar, a fifty-year-old teacher living a happy and harmonious life with his wife, Maria, and their son, Erik. Just before the Easter holidays, the headteacher asks whether he would speak to a pupil who has recently started wearing a wig. Oscar is caught off guard because he has never shared his own story with anyone at the school. He lost his hair at the age of seven and wore a wig for many years. During the holiday, Oscar also comes across an article about a promising new treatment – one the state has decided not to fund. These events stir something within him. He feels a growing need to put his emotions into words, feelings he has hardly ever shared with anyone."
