Odysseen: Verdas beste forteljingar

10 ottobre 13:00-14:00

The blockbuster film *The Odyssey* has broken several box-office records in 2026. This shows that old Homer is still unbeatable as a storyteller.

*The Odyssey* has also been adapted by two men from Jæren: Arne Garborg in 1918 and Kjell Arild Pollestad in 2013. Pollestad’s new translation of Virgil’s *Aeneid* has also recently been published – it was from this that the scene with the wooden horse was taken for the film.

On Saturday 10 October at 1 pm, Father Pollestad will talk about the translations and present fascinating and entertaining texts that are still regarded as highlights of European literature. Garborg will also have his say – our very own Greek in Knudaheio.

Kjell Arild Pollestad is one of Rogaland’s most beloved authors and lecturers. He has published over 20 books and is responsible for translations of key works of world literature, such as Snorre’s *Kongesagaar*, Homer’s *Iliad* and *Odyssey*, and the Bible.
