Hardanger Music Festival 2026 – Anniversary Festival by the Fjord

In 2026, Hardanger Music Festival celebrates its 30th anniversary and invites you to a jubilee week filled with memorable concert experiences in beautiful surroundings. The festival takes place 26–30 August in Lofthus and around the Sørfjord in Ullensvang.

This year's theme is GNIST ("Spark") – the small energy that arises when music, people and landscape meet. Over five festival days, audiences can experience everything from large orchestral concerts to intimate chamber performances, new works and encounters between different musical traditions.

Concerts take place in churches, concert halls and other distinctive venues between fjord and mountains. The festival also includes events for children and young people, creating encounters between local traditions and international artists.

Experience late summer in Hardanger with world-class music, stunning nature and unique concert venues – from historic churches and cultural halls to landscapes where the fjord and mountains become part of the performance.
