Bremer/McCoy at Ladekaia

We are celebrating 10 years by the fjord with a very special opening night, when Bremer/McCoy takes over Ladekaia and begins the anniversary week of Dora 3 and Ladekaia.

Bremer/McCoy In a noisy time, the Danish duo Bremer/McCoy have created their own quiet space. Bassist Jonathan Bremer and pianist Morten McCoy have played together since childhood, and share a musical language so intuitive that it hardly needs words. Their music is less about excelling individually, and more about listening together.

Instead of improvising solos, they improvise entire compositions. The songs unfold there and then, in the moment, without a fixed plan. The result is concerts with a rare intimacy, where the music becomes a form of wordless communication between stage and audience. “We are very flow-oriented. Only when the ego disappears does there become space for what is going to happen,” says Jonathan Bremer.

The duo formed in 2012 and debuted the following year with Enhed. Since then, they have built one of the most distinctive voices in modern Danish music, with albums such as the critically acclaimed Natten and the fresh Kosmos, their sixth. Jonathan Bremer has previously been named musician of the year at the Steppeulven award, and internationally, the duo is signed to the renowned record label Luaka Bop, founded by David Byrne.

Now Bremer/McCoy is coming to Ladekaia. In the intimate surroundings, the music comes to its full potential: subdued, present and full of calm. This is an evening for those who want to lower their shoulders, listen carefully, and experience how much can be said without words.
