About the concert
At the concert, a Nynorsk translation of a selection of poems from the French poet Paul Verlaine’s collection Songar utan ord (Romances sans paroles) will be performed.
Verlaine’s poetry can also be heard in Debussy’s musical settings on the same program. The songs, known as Glemte sanger (Ariettes oubliées), are sung by soprano Margrethe Fredheim, accompanied by Christian Grøvlen on piano. He will also perform one of Debussy’s most frequently played piano works, Suite bergamasque. Its most famous piece, Clair de lune, has long been a beloved favorite.
The concert can be combined with a talk (in Norwegian) at 12:00 about Debussy’s music and poetry, led by composer and professor emeritus Ståle Kleiberg from NTNU.
