2026 Vestland-Slam Poetry Championship

Pulse. Passion. Nerve endings. Rhythm. Articulation. Word weaving. Heartstrings. Are you ready for the 2026 Vestland-Slam Poetry Championship?

Henrikke Meidell hereby opens registration for the Vestland semi-final in slam poetry, to be held on Saturday, January 23. Anyone can try their hand here — experienced performers with an illegal number of poems under their belt, or aspiring poets who have just discovered the art form. On the slam stage, it's all about expressing your own truth, as explosively, rawly, or dreamily as you wish.

Slam poetry lies at the intersection of performance, rap, and spoken word; here, what you say counts just as much as how you say it.

Sharpen your tongue. Unfold the snail in your ear. Let the spit fly.

During the Vestland semi-final, participants perform their own texts in Norwegian or English in oral form, but it is also perfectly fine to bring the written text or a cheat sheet up onto the stage. The audience is an active participant in the competition and helps to decide who wins. The winner goes on to the Norwegian Slam Poetry Championship, which will be held during LitFestBergen on Saturday, February 13th.
