Norway's first dedicated cider bar - taste Norwegian craft cider on a guided tasting or enjoy a glass in peaceful surroundings in the heart of Bergen.
What is cider?
Cider is fermented apple juice – a drink with deep roots in Norwegian farm culture and natural landscape. Today cider production has developed into a vibrant craft, where producers across the country create something genuine and honest from the same raw material, but under widely different conditions. Climate, terrain and local traditions leave their mark on the result, and that is precisely why Norwegian cider tastes of where it comes from.
From coastal farms to mountain valleys, cider makers work with one shared ambition: to craft cider that reflects the nature and culture around them. Together they show that Norway is a rich and diverse cider country – where every bottle carries a little of the place and the people behind it.
Hardanger at the centre – and the whole country in the glass
Siderbar Bergen has a particular fondness for Hardanger, one of Norway's foremost fruit-growing regions and home to some of the country's most award-winning cider producers. Here the tradition of apple growing is old, and the quality is high. But the selection doesn't stop there. The bar offers a wide range from across the country, so guests can discover just how different Norwegian cider can taste – and what sets a West Coast cider apart from one made under entirely different conditions.
Food that enhances the flavour
With the cider comes a carefully composed selection of cheeses, cured meats and apple cake – not chosen at random, but matched to the different cider styles to bring out the best in each glass.

Warm, personal and a little nostalgic
The inspiration behind the interior is drawn from the West Norwegian "bestestova" – the room in the house that was saved for special occasions. Here warm furniture, atmospheric chandeliers and an atmosphere that invites you to sit down, take your time and talk about what matters come together. Siderbar Bergen is not just a place to drink. It is a place to taste, learn and share – with a modern expression that nevertheless feels a little like home.
A historic address in the heart of Bergen
Siderbar Bergen is located in Kong Oscars gate 11, one of the city's oldest and most historic streets. The street stretches from the Fish Market to Kalfarveien and has roots going back to the Middle Ages. The building itself is a merchant's house from the early 1700s, built after the city fire of 1702. Throughout history it has housed both residential and commercial use, and after the street's renovation in 2016–2018 the premises were modernised – but retained their historic character. Today it houses apartments and Norway's first dedicated cider bar.
The cider bar is right around the corner from Skostredet (a pedestrian walking street with bars and restaurants) and just a short walk from the Fish Market - easy to find, and worth a visit.
