Veteran boat MK Erkna

Hire the veteran boat MK Erkna for a fjord tour. The boat takes 12 passengers and can pick up your group at Bryggen or wherever is suitable for you.

MK Erkna was built in 1907 and has a long and interesting history. The boat is 5 years older than the Titanic - and still floating!

Erkna is one of the three so-called "Shetland buses" left in Norway after the war. Erkna made a journey across the North Sea with 60 refugees a stormy night in October 1942. Now you can hire Erkna for a fjord cruise and get a special historic setting for your event.

If you have a special route in mind for your trip, we are happy to take you there. If you don't, we have several routes to suggest.

Here is one suggestion for a day trip from Bergen:

Tour suggestion:
We depart from the UNESCO World Heritage Site Bryggen in Bergen and head to Sandviken and Gamle Bergen (Old Bergen) and continue in the Bergensfjord to Alverstraumen. Here we explore the small beautiful place Småholmen before the trip continues between narrow islets and reefs. This area is particulary beautiful. The trip continues into Damsgårdsundet and we return and embark at Bryggen.

The captain and owner Atle Remøy will be your host and guide and he will tell you the fasinating story of Erkna. Atle himself has a long career at sea as captain overeas, deadliest catch crab fishing, tuna fishing in Iran and India and much more. Atle has manged "Erkna" since 2013 and the boat is moored at the quay at the Bergen Costal Heritage Center (Kystkultursenteret) in Sandviken.

Duration of a day trip:
You can choose how long you would like the tour to be. (Anything from 3 to 7 hours.)

Multi-day trip:
The boat can sleep 8 people if hired for a weekend trip or a longer (as a boys / girls trip).

A suggested tour can start at Bryggen in Bergen Bergen via Radøy to Fedje with a visit to Restaurant Fab8 (day 1). The next day, the trip continues to Harbakke with a visit to Gulating and Skjerjehamn. On day 3, the trip returns to Bergen and Bryggen. This suggested tour is suitable for a group of 8 people. It is also possible to have a barbeque on deck.

About MK Erkna:
Engine: The engine on Erkna is a Callesen with a good old-fashioned sound.
Dining: Free tea and coffee (other catering options available to order) Groups are welcome to bring their own food / drinks.
Maximum numbers: The boat can take up to 12 people. Smaller groups are also welcome.

Do not hesitate to contact MK Erkna for an offer, availability and more information.
