The trip to Torbjørnsrød starts at the town church. In the roundabout by Amfi Moss shopping centre you will continue in the direction towards Henrich Gerners str and Møllebyen until you reach the waterfall which is a very recognizable landmark in our town.
Along this route so far you will pass Gallery Gerner, the city and industrial museum, our library and cinema. The waterfall (dubbed "Mossefossen") laid the foundation to the city's industrial growth which has all up to recent history been quite substantial. The industrial basin included grindmills, sawmills, ironworks, paper manufactory, breweries, distilleries, textile industries, trade, shipyards and shipping. This has lead the way for new human settlements and immigration and the city being the focus of trade.
In the building housing the cinema and library you will also view the largest ceramic pot w/ decor by the artist Frans Widerberg.
When you arrive at the waterfall, you will continue along a street named Bjerget, past the freechurch and the city's skateboard facilities. From here you must continue along the pedestrian road alongside Vansjø lake towards Tjukkemyr. Further down you will follow Krapfoss str. in the direction towards Krapfoss.
When you reach Gjerrbogen you will also find Helleren - a bronze age settlement site from the last part of the earlier bronzeage. This ancient settlement was situation in todays Gjerrebogen, under a overhanging mountain wall, a socalled "Heller".
Further away you will then continue to follow Krapfoss str. towards the intersection to Våler str. In the intersection you will take to the left and continue upwards a small slope. On the top of the slope you will take to the right and follow Skanse rd. towards Torbjørnsrød stronghold (also called Bjørnåsen batteri - Bearhill battery). This site was a part of a defence network from a range of forts and entrenchments which where supposed to stop a Swedish push towards our capitol in conjunction with the decleration of independence in 1905
