The Mountain Lodge is also a common starting point for hiking to the top of the higest mountain in Norway - Galdhøpiggen. The trip from Spiterstulen to Galdhøpiggen can be done both with and without a guide, and there are several route options. The most common route is not crossing the glacier, and it is easy to follow the well marked path.

From family farm to Mountain Loddge:
Spiterstulen was originally a summer farming hamlet to the family farm Sulheim which was extended for guests the first time in 1836. Through six generations, the place has since been expanded and modernized. But the old characteristics have been preserved – with several small and large houses in one yard.

The guest rooms range from small cabins and family units with bathrooms - to youth departments with bunk beds and communal laundry room.

Spiterstulen Mountain Lodge offers a total of 200 beds. They also has a campsite with sanitary facilities right outside the door.
