More Than Just a Hike – An Activity for Everyone
Geilo Aktiv offers snowshoe hikes for all levels — from gentle evening walks starting from Vestlia Resort to longer mountain treks for those wanting to explore Geilo’s spectacular highland scenery. Whether you’re after a peaceful nature experience with your family or a challenging workout in the snow, Nina will design the perfect trip for you.
Thanks to Nina’s unique combination of sports expertise and local knowledge, she can adapt the route to match your fitness level and interests. She knows exactly where to find the best viewpoints for a scenic break — or how to create a challenging session to get your heart rate up if that’s what you prefer.
Why Choose a Guided Snowshoe Tour Instead of Going Alone?
Geilo is a true winter paradise with plenty of trails, but choosing a guided tour offers so much more than simply walking on your own:
- Safety and expert guidance in unfamiliar terrain, whether you’re in the forest or crossing frozen lakes.
- Hidden gems and secret spots you’d likely miss without a local guide — from animal tracks to the best panoramic viewpoints.
- Active adventure with purpose, where you combine exercise with incredible natural beauty.
- Local stories, history, and insights that give deeper meaning to your journey.
- Flexible and personalized itineraries tailored to your interests, fitness level, and the day’s weather.
Perfect for First-Timers
Never tried snowshoeing before? No problem! Nina will give you a thorough introduction to the equipment and techniques, so you’ll feel comfortable and confident right from the start. Modern snowshoes are lightweight, easy to use, and suitable for all ages — whether you want to stroll at a relaxed pace or challenge yourself with a more demanding hike.
Regular and Private Tours – Your Choice
Geilo Aktiv offers regular evening tours throughout the week, starting from Vestlia Resort, as well as longer daytime mountain hikes that can be customized to fit your personal preferences. If you’re planning a private group trip, Nina is happy to create a tailored experience for you, your family, or your friends.
Practical Information and Booking
All tours include snowshoe and pole rental, and trips range from 1.5 hours for a family-friendly tour to several hours for longer mountain adventures. Snowshoe rentals are also available if you’d like to explore on your own — but we always recommend a guided tour to make the most of your time in Geilo’s magical winter landscape.
