Join an evening reindeer feeding tour from Tromsø, discover Sámi culture and enjoy a traditional meal, with a chance to see the Northern Lights.
This tour is operated by Tromsø Lapland.
The experience begins with an approximately 50-minute bus journey from Tromsø city centre through the scenic landscapes of Northern Norway. The camp is located in peaceful surroundings, away from the brightest city lights.
Upon arrival, you will meet the reindeer and have the opportunity to feed them. There will be time to get close to the animals, learn more about them and take photos.
After spending time with the reindeer, you will enjoy a traditional Sámi meal of bidos, a warming reindeer stew made with potatoes and carrots. A vegan alternative is also available, consisting of a Norwegian-style vegetable soup made with potatoes, swede, carrots, onion, leek, seasoning and stock. The soup is gluten-free.
A Sámi guide will introduce you to centuries of Sámi history and traditions. Through personal stories, tales and anecdotes, you will gain insight into Sámi culture and ways of life. There will also be opportunities to ask questions along the way.
The camp's location away from the city lights offers an opportunity to experience the Arctic night sky. If weather conditions and aurora activity are favourable, you may also be lucky enough to see the Northern Lights during the evening.
