Summer palace surrounded by a beautiful park at Bygdøy.

Pleasure palace by Frognerkilen on the Bygdøy peninsula, open to the public in summer. Visitors can also visit the surrounding park and Café Gallery Queen Joséphine in the annex by the museum shop. Oscarshall was built from 1847 to 1852 by Danish architect Johan Henrik Nebelong, commissioned by King Oscar I, and since 1863 it has been at the King's disposal. It is considered neo-Gothic masterpieces in Norway, and is one of the country's main national romantic memorials. The grounds include a main building, a park that leads down to the water and an open pavilion. Tours Guided tours in Norwegian are offered on the hour, and include the lounge, the dining room, the King's apartment and the Queen's apartment. The final tour of the day starts at 4 pm. Tickets are sold in the museum shop. Tours for groups are available, but must be booked ahead of time. NB: Due to closed events Oscarshall will be closed to the public on certain days.
