Kristiansand is Norway's six largest town and has 119.000 inhabitants in the town itself.

Kristiansand is the commercial and transport centre of southern Norway, with good train, flight, ferry and bus connections to the rest of Norway and abroad. The city has Norway’s second largest harbour, the country’s largest university college and an economy based on industry, trade and tourism.

The city was founded by King Christian IV in 1641 and was built in Renaissance style. Posebyen is the oldest district, consisting of ten blocks with Northern Europe’s largest collection of low, continuous wooden houses.

One of Kristiansand’s biggest attractions is Kvadraturen, a lively and vibrant shopping district with a network of pedestrian streets. Throughout the summer, shops move their displays and market stalls outdoors, while the streets are decorated with flowers in all sizes. The city’s many parks are also worth experiencing.

Along the waterfront promenade and the Gravan Canal, restaurants line the streets with inviting outdoor seating. Many of the ingredients come directly from the nearby fish market. Welcome to an experience-filled holiday.
