Juvasshytta is a family-run mountain lodge with traditions dating back to 1884, and the closest starting point for trips to Galdhøpiggen. The lodge is located at 1840 meters above sea level, and it is possible to drive all the way up by car.

Juvasshytta is located 1,840 meters above sea level, making it Norway’s highest staffed mountain lodge. In summer, Juvasshytta offers several daily guided trips across Styggebrean glacier to Galdhøpiggen, which is both Norway’s and Northern Europe’s highest mountain—2,469 meters above sea level.

Here you can stay overnight in the main lodge itself, or in the newly built “Juva,” which offers a bit of extra mountain luxury. In the restaurant, lunch and dinner are served with panoramic views of Galdhøpiggen and other mighty 2,000-meter peaks in the Galdhøpiggen massif.

Just outside you’ll also find the Galdhøpiggen summer ski center, Norway’s highest glacier ski lift, as well as the fascinating Klimapark 2469 and the ice tunnel.

Galdhøpiggvegen, completed in 1936, is Northern Europe’s highest road. It is privately owned and open when the ski center and Juvasshytta are open. The road takes you from the village of Galdesand (Sognefjellsvegen) up to 1,840 meters above sea level.
