Hindsæter

The small historic Hindsæter Hotel is situated along the touristic road over Valdresflya at 950 masl with a stunning view over the valley and Jotunheimen National Park, just 15 km from Besseggen / Gjende.

Build in year 1898 Hindsæter is a relaxing getaway with exceptional opportunities at the doorstep where you enjoy excellent dinners in historical diningrooms and fresh mountain air.

Well marked hiking routes in summer on the doorstep. Discover old pine tree woods and summer pasture landscape in the nature reserves close to the hotel. Enjoy the streams and waterfalls in Sjoa river, climb easy peaks with a fantastic view over the valley.

In winter snowshoe­ and skitracks on the doorstep. Guided tours through the frozen world of Sjoa river (Ice canyoning) and activitiy packages with elk safari, ski and snowshoe rental.

Dining

All our dishes are prepared from scratch, and we cure, pickle and smoke our own meat and fish. We use many local products together with international ingredients and flavours. We are listed by Norwegian Foodprints as one of Norway’s best places to experience local cuisine.

Accommodation

The hotel has 26 doublerooms with shower/wc, old diningrooms in timber and nice lounges with old fire places. We also have a wonderful log cabin that sleeps six, with shower and WC, well-appointed kitchen, two soapstone fireplaces and a veranda with views over the valley.

Wellness

Our cosy wellness is buildt like a small summer farm yard. The sauna and the showers are buildt in with hundreds of years old timber from an old barn. The infrared cabin is buildt as a stone hut. We also used other old wood materials and some old doors showing history and culture from Hindsæter and the surroundings.
