In the steep mountain walls at Rullestadjuvet you can see some of Northern Europes largest potholes; several meters in diameter. Glacial potholes are round caves in the mountain made by water, ice and stones in the last iceage.
The hike is not long, but quite difficult as the terrain is very steep. The hike requires good equipment, and must not be done in wet terrain!
To the starting place you come easiest by car. Drive E134 to Rullestad, then towards Rullestadjuvet. Start from sawmill, when you're up the first hill take off from the road and go down the hill to the river. Down by the river you enter Gamleveien (The old road) up Rullestadjuvet, and cross the river on Perbru. Gamleveien is easy to follow, but just before Juvbru part of the road is collapsed. To get past the landslide you must go down to the river and up again, just a little more challenging than going on the road. From Juvbru and up to Bordalbroen you follow the asphalt again. Just before Bordalbroen you see Gamleveien crossing the river with a wooden bridge, this is your path.
Gamlevegen is somewhat overgrown part of the road, but easy to follow. Shortly before you enter Skrommsbøen, a small stream and power line crosses the road. Follow the road up, and then follow the cairns, which leads up to Jettegrytnuten and down to the potholes. The hill down is secured with chains, but you have to walk carefully when you look at the many pots. These potholes is made by water, ice and stones in the last ice age. Up from the potholes again to the summit point ,is it time to enjoy a packed lunch and the view. The best way down from the peak to Kleivane is to follow the cairns back to the first little valley and then north to a larger valley that leads you down to Kleivane at the tunnel opening. The last part of the hike back to the car follows a forest path on the southern side of the main road.
