Legendary 100-year old restaurant with lively ambiance and traditional food.
A historic Oslo institution and one of the rare restaurants that focus solely on Norwegian food. Lively informal atmosphere with many locals.
Under the new management the restaurant has returned to its roots, with specialties such as herring, rakfisk (fermented trout), grynsodd (reindeer broth) and the house specialty “Schrøder Panne”, a generous collection of traditional meats. Schrøder also offers Norwegian Journey Menu, a specially curated selection of traditional foods. Reservations via email recommended. Groups excepted (limited availability).
Schrøder can trace its history back to 1926 in Oslo, from 1956 at its current St. Hanshaugen location.
The restaurant is also known as the favourite hangout for detective Harry Hole in Jo Nesbø's popular crime novels.
Small, well curated wine cellar.
Open Tuesday to Sunday. Kitchen closes at 9.30 pm.
