There’s a moment, just beyond Bergen’s harbour, when everything softens. The city slips quietly behind you. The water opens, then narrows again. The air feels different out here.
Your boat moves gently through the Osterfjord, passing old boathouses and scattered islands before entering tighter stretches of fjord where the cliffs rise steeply and the currents shift beneath the surface. It’s calm, but never still. This is where the landscape starts to feel bigger than you.
At the end of the fjord lies Modalen. Small, quiet, and easy to miss if you didn’t know it was there. Life here moves slowly, shaped by the sea and the seasons. You step ashore with your captain, walk along the marina, maybe stop for a coffee, and simply take it in.
The experience
This is your time on the water. No crowds, no fixed schedule, just your group and the fjord. You leave from Bergen harbour, or a pick-up point that suits you.
The journey lasts between four and six hours, depending on the boat you choose. Your captain guides you throughout, and on one of the vessels you’ll also have a host on board to take care of the details.

More space, more time, and a slightly slower pace. This option includes a host on board, so everything feels effortless from start to finish. Custom-built for an exceptional experience, the Skilsø combines refined comfort with a warm, social atmosphere. Expansive windows, a sliding roof, and a seamless indoor-outdoor layout create a light-filled, open setting perfect for long, relaxed journeys. Designed for memorable, food-led experiences, it also features a unique aft-deck aquarium with live shellfish and fish, bringing a distinctive, authentic touch to your time on the fjord.
The boat takes up to 10 guests and the tour on the fjord lasts 6 hours.
