Nice round trip at Høg-Jæren where the view follows you all the time, and you can see far out to sea from the top of Ulvarudlå.

This hiking area is located between Ualand and Sikvaland and is typical of Høg-Jæren. The terrain alternates between grass and heather with some narrow sections in between. One of Norway's largest bird of prey migrations is registered in this area.

Powerful view from the summit of Ulvarudlå

On this trip, the view follows you almost all the time. It is, as you can imagine, most powerful at the highest point, Ulvarudlå (412 masl). From the top, you see far out towards the sea. And if you turn around, you'll see the Bjerkreimsenderen (the telecommunication sender), Synesvarden and several lakes dominating the view.

About the hike to Ulvarudlå

The trip can be taken as a round trip, and you can choose Aurenes or Tjåland as a starting point. Here with Aurenes as a starting point. Follow signs and markers, first on a tractor road with a good climb all the way to the top of the hill, where there is a crossroad to Tjåland. From here, out into the terrain. Wet areas require good footwear. Eventually, the cairn at Ulvarudlå appears, and after about an hour, you are at the top.

The return trip goes the same way down to the crossroads. Turn left in Raunidalen and past the pond Fiskelaustjørna until you meet the tractor road again. Follow this road down to the other car park located at Tjåland. The round trip continues down to Tjålandsvatnet lake, alternating between an old tractor road and a path. Follow the water's edge back to Aurenes.

Be prepared and show consideration

The walk to Ulvarudlå takes you through varied countryside. Wear shoes with good grip, dress for the weather and follow the signposts. Keep your distance from grazing animals, keep your dog under control and close gates behind you. Take all your rubbish with you and avoid disturbing animals and farm operations.
