Ramnenipa, at 232 meters above sea level, offers a beautiful view over the Hardbakke village centre, the islands, fjords, and the open sea.

Where is Ramnenipa located?

The hike to Ramnenipa rises above the municipal centre of Hardbakke and is a very popular trip for the whole family. The hike takes about one hour in total (round trip).

How to get from the starting point to Ramnenipa

There are two starting points for the hike. You can either walk from the sports field, which is the most popular option, or start from Brattelia. The route from Brattelia is graded red and is not recommended for families with children. The route from the sports field is graded green and is therefore recommended.

Hiking to Ramnenipa from the sports field

From Hardbakke centre, walk or drive up to the sports field. At the end of the football pitch, you will find a sign and a red-marked trail. Follow the path all the way to the top.

Season for the hike to Ramnenipa

The hike from the sports field can be done all year round. If hiking in snowy conditions, crampons are recommended, and you should be experienced in walking in snowy terrain. Winters in Solund can have little snow, so use your judgment when deciding whether to hike.

Trail description

Even though the summit is only 232 meters above sea level, you will enjoy fantastic views of Hardbakke, the surrounding islands, fjords, and the coastal landscape of Solund. The trail is varied, taking you across both terrain and rock. The hike can be done as a loop if you choose to go up one route and down the other, but the recommended option is to return the same way.

Equipment and important information for the hike

You can use both running shoes and hiking boots for this hike. If it has been raining, hiking boots with good grip are recommended, as the terrain can be slippery. Even on calm, sunny days, it is wise to bring a headband or hat and a windproof jacket for the summit. Take your time at the top and enjoy the beautiful landscape. Don’t forget to sign the guestbook at the summit.
