Alvheimstuene

The building now houses a restaurant with 160 seats across two distinct dining rooms. You can enjoy small and large dishes in the bright living rooms under our gigantic chandeliers, or have a handmade coffee and freshly baked pastries served in the library that looks like it came from Gatsby himself.

Alvheimstuene only serves culinary artisan food of the best quality and the menus change from season to season. The restaurant is mainly open during the seasons - Easter - July and Christmas, but occasionally have other events such as opera gourmet evenings and concerts.

The building also houses a gift shop stocked with local products - from artisan food to handcrafted works of art. Many of the products are made in-house at Alvheimstuene, with the rest sourced from producers in the local community.

The garden and outdoor restaurant are a favorite place to stop for a cup of coffee or a meal.

Privat events:

Outside the seasons when it is open to the public, Alvheimstuene is a great venue for parties, weddings and boat trips. If you would like to book a lunch or dinner, the hosts are more than happy to tell you the history of the place and show you around the premises.

Parking:

Alvheimstuene has a large parking lot where there is room for countless buses and cars - of course free of charge. If you want to come by camper, there is room for this too. The bus stops right outside us, and has relatively frequent departures.

Public transport:

If you are travelling by public transport you can take bus number 460 from Bergen Bus Station to Ågotnes terminal. Here you change to bus number 479 which stops right outside Alveheimstuene. The bus stop is called Dåvøy kryss. The journey takes approximately 1 hour and 20 minutes. Timetables can be found at Skyss.no.

Attractions nearby:

On the way to Alvheimstuene you can stop at Rongesundet bridge and enjoy the great view, visit the coastal museum in Øygarden, or just take a detour to see the beautiful and wild coast. Further north it is nice to take a walk to Gløvrebu, or go to Øygarden's northernmost tip to see Hengjo. There are fantastic hking opportunities nearby, suitable for young and old, and if you fancy a swim in the sea, it is only a short walk away.

Accessibility:

The building is adapted for people with reduced mobility with a disabled lift and accessible toilets, so that everyone can reach the old part of the restaurant (the rooms with chandeliers). The upper part of the library is accessible via a ramp, and the accessible toilet in the old part of the building can be used by guests in both areas.
