“The USA and the midterm elections”
The United States will hold midterm elections in November, after Trump has been president for two years. The waves surrounding Trump have run high—how will this play out in a midterm election, and what consequences could this have for President Trump and the United States in the years ahead?
Eirik Løkke is a prominent commentator and expert on the United States. He is employed by the think tank Civita, where he has the opportunity to pursue his passion for the US. This passion means he is frequently seen and heard in various media commenting on American politics and history. In addition to the US, he is interested in Norwegian and international politics, with a particular focus on the struggle between liberal democracy and the threat of authoritarianism. He also hosts Civita’s weekly podcast, “Liberal Half Hour”, and is the author of the book Privacy after Snowden: Privacy in the Digital Society (2016).
He has previously worked as a digital adviser at UNICEF Norway and as a campaign adviser for the Conservative Party (Høyre). Eirik is educated at the University of Bergen, with studies in history (master’s), comparative politics (bachelor’s), and law (European Convention on Human Rights).
