Romeo and Juliet is one of the most frequently performed ballets in history. The Norwegian National Ballet now brings the love drama to the Main Stage in an entirely reimagined production – a classical-style ballet choreographed by Kaloyan Boyadjiev.
Family feud en pointe
The Capulet and Montague families are sworn enemies, yet it is love at first sight between Romeo Montague and Juliet Capulet. On Juliet’s balcony, the young couple confess their devotion to each other – and secretly marry.
The feud escalates when Romeo avenges his friend Mercutio, murdered by Juliet's cousin Tybalt. As punishment, Romeo is banished from the city. Meanwhile, Juliet's parents pressure her to marry another suitor.
To be together, Romeo and Juliet must risk everything.
