The Portuguese multi-talent MARO returns to Norway!
She has visited Oslo several times before, including a sold-out concert at Cosmopolite in 2024. On July 8, she takes the stage at Sentrum Scene with her unique voice and catchy songs – a concert experience you do not want to miss!
MARO is a multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, and producer from Lisbon, Portugal. After completing her studies at Berklee College of Music in Boston, she made her debut in 2018 and has since released six albums and one EP.
Shortly afterwards, she joined Jacob Collier’s “DJESSE World Tour” as a member of his band. During the same period, MARO opened for artists such as Jessie J, Gipsy Kings, Charlotte Cardin, and The Paper Kites.
In 2020, she launched “ITSAME, MARO!” – a collaborative series consisting of 100 episodes featuring artists from around the world, including Eric Clapton, Pablo Alborán, Lizzy McAlpine, Ivan Lins, Vitor Kley, ANAVITÓRIA, Sílvia Pérez Cruz, Maria Gadú, Mayra Andrade, Rui Veloso, and Lennon Stella.
MARO won Festival da Canção and represented Portugal in Eurovision 2022, where her song “saudade, saudade” finished in the top ten. She later released the album “can you see me?”, a genre-defying record incorporating elements of pop, trap, world music, and folk.
In April 2023, she released “hortelã”, an acoustic trio album created with Catalan guitarists Darío Barroso and Pau Figueres. The album, sung primarily in Portuguese, was awarded the José Afonso Prize for Portuguese Album of the Year.
Following their collaboration on the EP “PIRILAMPO”, MARO and NASAYA released the album “LIFELINE” in 2024 – a more electronic project that marked a clear shift from her earlier releases.
Over the past three years, MARO has toured the world and performed to sold-out audiences, both with her acoustic trio and her electronic duo format. She has shared stages with artists such as Jacob Collier, Odesza, and Parcels, and opened for Shawn Mendes on his summer tour.
With the new album “SO MUCH HAS CHANGED”, a celebration of a brighter and more upbeat sound, MARO enters a new phase. She is now embarking on a tour with a new band setup – ready for audiences around the world!
Doors open at 19:00.
Tickets provide access to standing areas in the main hall.
The event has an 18-year age limit with valid ID required. No guardian admission scheme available.
