Folk & Lister: The Norwegian Civil Defence – Are We Prepared When Disaster Strikes?

20 ottobre 19:00

What happens when society is put to the test? On Tuesday, 20 October, Folk & Lister welcomes Jørgen Gyland from the Norwegian Civil Defence for an evening exploring emergency preparedness, the role of the Civil Defence – and what we should be prepared for ourselves.

What exactly does the Civil Defence do when an emergency occurs? Who responds, how are they organised – and why is the Civil Defence set to be strengthened in the coming years?

Jørgen Gyland will take us through the history of the Civil Defence to its present-day readiness. He will explain how the organisation is structured, its responsibilities and what the renewed focus on emergency preparedness in Norway means for the future.

2026 is Norway's Year of Total Defence, and the national emergency preparedness week begins just a few days after this event. We will therefore also turn the conversation to our own preparedness:

How well prepared are we if the power goes out, mobile networks go down or a major incident affects our local community?

What supplies should we keep at home? What is expected of each of us – and what can we expect from the authorities?

There will also be an opportunity to ask questions and join the conversation.

Join Folk & Lister for a timely and informative evening.
