ELJA

Elja – meaning “to raise” – celebrates the wild nature of Hardangervidda and its inhabitants. Listen closely for wolverines, owls, cranes and frogs. A collaboration between Hardanger fiddle player Benedicte Maurseth and festival composer Kristine Tjøgersen, Maurseth premiered it with the Kronos Quartet at Carnegie Hall last year. At Dokkhuset, Kamfest’s own Hardanger quartet performs, including a brand-new Hardanger viola by instrument maker Ottar Kåsa.
