The award winning Turkish author Burhan Sönmez will together with ICORN's Elisabeth Dyvik talk about the power of literature in the meeting of torture.
Below the ancient streets of Istanbul, four prisoners—Demirtay the student, the doctor, Kamo the barber and Uncle Küheylan—sit, awaiting their turn at the hands of their wardens. When they are not subject to unimaginable violence, the condemned tell one another stories about the city, shaded with love and humor, to pass the time.
The award winning Turkish author Burhan Sönmez has recently released the Norwegian edition of his third novel Istanbul Istanbul. He has been a political prisoner, and will together with ICORN's Elisabeth Dyvik talk about the power of literature in the meeting of torture.
