The Light of Lista

The Light of Lista is a quaint little cabin overlooking the beaches of Lista.

At a little quaint location next to Havika beach on the beautiful coastline in Lista, lays a newly built hut with large windows overlooking the sand dunes and coastline. It is called Lyset på Lista (The Light of Lista) which basically means a place where you can see the coastline and lights of Lista in any weather condition.

It has large windows, seating and possibilities to sleep there with a little hanging seat that could be used as a bed (if you have a sleeping bag and foam mattress.)

In September 2013 with the help of property owners and local contributors, Lyset på Lista was built. Two Norwegian architects and fourteen architectural students from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology over the course of 20 days designed the structure.

The sand dune landscape in the area is invaluable. There are only two such landscape forms in Norway.

The site is designed to be something between the cultural and natural landscape and to show the potential of the area. It is hoped that the building could become a meeting place in the broad sense. It is built on a gentle way with the main construction of tree work knocked down in the sand.

The goal of the site is to show the possibilities the area has with a view to innovative and eco-friendly tourist facilities. It is also wheelchair friendly.

It is open all year round.
