Vøringsfossen - Måbødalen

Enjoy the view of one of the most impressive waterfalls in Norway that pours out from the Hardangervidda mountain plateau and curbs itself down the narrow and wild Måbødalen valley.

The Vøringsfossen waterfall is one of the best-known waterfalls in Norway, which springs from the river Bjoreia west on the Hardangervidda Plateau. Massive amounts of water plunge 182 meters straight down through the Måbødalen valley, a narrow and wild valley that winds down to the softer and greener areas of Hardanger. The amount of water in the river is regulated in connection with power development during the summer season.

Norwegian Scenic Route Hardangervidda started the construction by Vøringsfossen during autumn 2015, and all the viewing platforms at the Fossli Hotel, the step bridge crossing the waterfall and the scenic round tour path are now complete. The entire construction project is planned to be completed in 2022.

Parking and toilet facilities at Fossli are available April 1st – October 31st. subject to small / normal amounts of snow. Might open later and /or close earlier due to snow, ice and weather conditions. When entering the different view points, consideration must be given to weather and ice/snow conditions.
