Siamo nati qui, nella Norvegia dei fiordi, tra alte montagne e fiordi profondi.

Ed è da qui che abbiamo preso il nostro nome.

Siamo una delle razze equine più antiche al mondo e una delle tre razze originarie della Norvegia.

Abbiamo percorso costantemente queste valli e montagne per centinaia di anni!

Siamo piccoli ma muscolosi e abbastanza forti da portare una persona adulta.

Possiamo trasportare e trainare una bella quantità di carichi pesanti, il che in passato ha fatto di noi gli animali da basto ideali per le fattorie di montagna.

È facile distinguerci anche per il nostro mantello falbo e le macchie scure sulle gambe.

Alcuni di noi presentano perfino strisce zebrate su ginocchi e stinchi!

La nostra andatura costante ti accompagnerà senza pericoli in ogni avventura a cavallo.

Ma nonostante le nostre particolari qualità le nostre specie sono a rischio. Ad oggi siamo rimasti solo in 5.500 in Norvegia.

Semplicemente non nascono ogni anno abbastanza puledri.

Troverai i cavalli Fjord in altri paesi, come in Danimarca, Olanda e Germania, ma è la Norvegia a vigilare sulla preservazione della nostra razza.

L’annuale esposizione degli stalloni a Nordfjordeid è una grande attrazione. Una volta lì puoi visitare anche il Norwegian Fjord Horse Centre.

Pur essendo originari di Nordfjord, nella Norvegia dei fiordi, puoi venire a conoscerci in tantissimi posti in tutto il paese.

Come al parco Langedrag Nature Park, che ospita un simpatico branco e gestisce un programma di riproduzione per preservare la nostra specie. Già che ci sei puoi anche fare una passeggiata a cavallo o perfino provare il volteggio – cioè eseguire degli esercizi ginnici su un cavallo!
